Most of the common classroom door barricades provide a false sense of security since most of them are complex to use and they do not follow buildings and safety regulations.  At TeacherLock, we have designed control of use to be maintained with the teacher.   We prevent the bullies or worse from gaining control of the door.  This is something that most door lockset companies have overlooked. 

Easy to use.

The locks are easy to use and very fast since they can be deployed under stress. The lock is always ready since it is mounted on the door. The activator is carried by the teacher and and out of reach by smaller students.   It is designed to allow a single-handed operation which allows teachers to look out of the classroom while locking.  The other hand is free to pull a shade or dial a cell phone.  We used biomechanical engineering to orient the lock activator using “muscle memory.”  In this way, there is no thinking about whether the key is oriented in the right position.   

Our door locking device complies with building, Fire, ADA, and safety regulations, unlike door barricades.

We designed TeacherLock to meet all the requirements for building, fire and safety codes.   Safety regulations are clear.  We should not compromise the safety of occupants at any time.   We built in the capability of being unlocked from outside the room with a key.  The door lock can also be opened from inside the room with a simple push, without pinching, grasping, or turning.  

With the proliferation of tragic active shooter incidents in schools, it is a simple decision to give teachers the ability to lock the door.  However, nothing should compromise the safety of the children whether it is an active shooter, a fire, or a bully.
